Issues of cultural diplomacy were discussed at the 2nd Economic Forum in Samarkand

On November 3, 2022, a plenary session "Creative Economy as a Cultural Dividend", organized by the Foundation for the Development of Culture and Art, took place in the framework of the Second Economic Forum in Samarkand.
The main topics of the session were the role of museums and cultural institutions in the development of creative industries, and the impact of creative industries on the economic growth of the country. Examples included projects in the field of craftsmanship, sustainable development, as well as major international exhibition projects aimed at strengthening cultural diplomacy.
Speakers at the plenary session included:
- Gayane Umerova, Executive Director of the Foundation for the Development of Culture and Art;
- Irina Bokova, political and public figure. Director General of UNESCO from 2009 to 2017 (Bulgaria);
- Borina Andrieu, Managing Director of Wilmotte & Associés (France);
- Benedetta Gion, Executive Director of Art Dubai International Art Fair (UAE);
- Wilma Yurkute, Executive Director, Alserkal Initiatives, Board Member, GCDN (UAE);
The moderator was Cyril Zammit, Creative Director and Curator, Strategic Development Advisor.
